SIZE AND MOVEMENT OF FIRES THURSDAY AM
As of early Thursday, Cal Fire estimates the Walbridge Fire is currently 14,500 acres with 0% containment. The Myers Fire south of Fort Ross is 3000 acres with 0% containment.
The 9AM morning update from Cal Fire showed the Walbridge Fire grew slowly to the south, being held near Sweetwater Springs Road, the Stewarts Fire is being held at Lake Sonoma and is being fought to keep it from reaching the northern Dry Creek Valley. The northern part of the Walbridge Fire extended into the Mill Creek Road area and has not yet reached Chemise Road.
The fire moved overnight Wednesday to appoximately halfway down Mill Creek Road moving toward the east and southeast.
Fire lines are being dug with bulldozers today to protect communities along the Russian River as the fire moves to the south and east.
WINDS
Winds today (Thursday) are expected to be from the NW at 10-15 mph according to Cal Fire, with higher gusts possible. This is similar to Wednesday. There has been an increase in relative humidity which has helped.
EVACUATION ORDERS
Healdsburg was placed under an evacuation warning Wednesday afternoon, as wind activity pushed the fire to the east. The warning was issued according to Cal Fire under “an abundance of caution.” There is currently not an immediate concern about the fire crossing the Dry Creek Valley according to Cal Fire.
WALBRIDGE NOW HIGHEST PRIORITY
According to Cal Fire Thursday morning, the Walbridge Fire is now the highest priority fire in the LNU Complex, which means more ground and air resources would be moved to the fire today. Those include one air attack aircraft at present with the potential for 2 additional scooper aircraft this afternoon. Additional ground strike teams are also joining the fight.
Cal Fire is combining the Stewarts and Walbridge Fires into one unit. The fires have nearly merged with growth on Wednesday and through the night.
