COOLING BEGINS WEDNESDAY, CONTINUES THROUGH THE WEEKEND

Even as many inland areas of the North Bay hit 95-105 degrees Tuesday, relief from the relentless July heat is on the way.

By Thursday and especially Friday a low pressure trough will displace high pressure along the West Coast, allowing a cold front to usher in much cooler air. By Friday afternoon high temperatures will be back to the 80s in most areas.

Meanwhile a significant push of subtropical moisture is surging into the Golden State. While this will bring showers to the Sierra through Thursday, we’ll most likely only see high and middle level clouds in the North Bay. There is a very slight chance of an isolated shower, especially early morning Wednesday when the moisture will peak.

You can see the moisture firing off showers on Tuesday as it lifts over the Sierra and mountains of the Great Basin.

On Thursday the moisture will be sent south and east as the low pressure trough moves into the Pacific Northwest.

The weekend looks to be beautiful, with highs in the the 80s most areas.
