Car Washes, Other Businesses Adapt for Reopening
One week after many Sonoma County businesses reopened for curbside pickup, another group got the green light to begin operations Friday.
On Thursday, Sonoma County’s health officer amended the current stay-at-home order to allow car washes, dog walkers, outdoor museums and exhibit spaces and a variety of other businesses like janitorial and cleaning services and childcare facilities to resume operations.
In order to get up and running, the businesses have to adopt health order requirements for social distancing, use of face coverings, hygiene and safety, both for employees and customers.
Still it didn’t take long for many businesses to get going.
On Mission boulevard in Santa Rosa, the Auto Pride Car Wash was back in full operation, with employees spaced out carefully, masks worn all around, and lots of sanitizer on hand.
The county has specific guidelines for businesses, which must develop their own compliance plan and post it publicly.
Auto Pride Car Wash owner Nicole Mitchell’s car wash is part of a chain with two in Santa Rosa and seven in the Bay Area. She says the Bay Area locations were allowed to resume operations on May 4th, and that gave local operators a head start on preparing for changes.
