Brief Heat Waves for North Bay This Week

Share with Friends

The California fire season officially began on June 1st, and right on schedule the North Bay is headed for a couple of brief but, for June at least, intense heat waves.

The first will arrive Tuesday and Wednesday with high temperatures in the high 80s to near 90 in places like Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, Petaluma and Windsor.  The cause is a high pressure ridge that’s nosing into Northern California.  Some places may see their warmest temperatures so far this year.

The satellite view shows coastal clouds being depressed along the coast, a sign of the warmup that will begin on Tuesday.

Over the next week, high and low pressure systems will pass over us, bringing us warm weather, then a cooling trend, then another warm up by the upcoming weekend.

So, expect mid 80s to low 90s on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by cooler weather in the 70s Thursday through Saturday.  Then, another blast of heat with temperatures in the high 80s and lower 90s will arrive on Sunday and Monday.

Meantime, at the coast, temperatures will be moderate, staying mostly in the 60s for highs with night and morning low clouds at times.
