Big Heat Up Coming. 10-15 Degrees Plus Above Normal This Weekend.

Share with Friends

Our heat-up this weekend will NOT be as severe as what the Pacific Northwest experienced recently. But various forecast models are predicting highs some 10-15 degrees warmer than normal across inland Sonoma County, and even more than that in places like Cloverdale, eastern Napa County and Ukiah. There temperatures may top 110 on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The good news is that no strong offshore winds are forecast during the upcoming heat event.

Here are the departures from normal from Thursday-Tuesday as being forecast by the European model. The sample looks at 4PM temperatures each day.

Notice that the marine influence (blue on this chart) is likely to be compressed to the immediate coast on Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures in Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Sebastopol and Rohnert Park will likely range from 90-100 both days, with 95-105 likely in Windsor and Healdsburg. Cooling will most likely begin on Monday.

Forecast temperatures from the GFS and Canadian models for 4PM Sunday afternoon show the expected influence of marine air on places nearest the coast, with very hot (possibly record setting) temperatures in the Central Valley.
