Air Quality Improves Across North Bay. More Improvement Expected.
Air quality across Sonoma County and the North Bay showed improvement on Tuesday as increasing southwest winds began to carry smoke to the east.
Readings were mostly between 100-150, an improvement from the past few days which saw consistent Air Quality Index readings between 150-200 across Sonoma County.

The winds are increasing as a trough of low pressure approaches the West Coast. As the week progresses, expect a continual gradual improvement as these winds mix to the surface and scour smoke out of the valleys of the North Bay.
The satellite view shows less smoke over Sonoma County and the marine layer pushing well inland.
Much of the improvement is being caused by an incoming weather system over the Pacific Ocean. As the trough of low pressure approaches the West Coast this week, stronger southwest and northwest winds will help to scour out remaining smoke from the region’s fires.
Later this week, the system may bring showers to far northern California, but they likely won’t reach the North Bay.
