A MILD WEEK AHEAD. APRIL SHOWERS TO RETURN?
High pressure has shoved the active storm track into Canada and the Pacific Northwest, leaving us with a mostly sunny and mild week ahead.
A cold front now passing into Washington and Oregon will wash out over Northern California, bringing us slight cooling and drier air over the next couple of days.
The ensemble models don’t see any real change for at least 10 days, with a weak high pressure ridge in control. Low pressure troughs located to our north and south will keep us from heating up too much.
We’ll be slightly drier than average through mid April, and slightly warmer as well.
So, pretty pleasant weather! The first chance for a few showers to make it into California looks to be around the 23rd. But two week extended forecasts are just a guess.
As for the big picture, the ensemble models suggest that California (along with most of the Western U.S.) will remain mostly dry through the last days of April.
Finally, as we enter the dry season the state’s reservoirs remain in very good shape, and the overall snowpack statewide is at 99% of average for the date. More updates to come!
