A LITTLE RAIN POSSIBLE SUNDAY FOR NORTH BAY
The models have come into reasonable agreement on a low pressure trough digging south far enough by Sunday to bring us the chance of a little rain.
The system is being squeezed and weakened by high pressure to the west. It will basically wash out as it reaches the North Bay sometime late Sunday AM.
The totals, if we get rain, will be light. From a few hundredths to a tenth or two on the high end. This is currently the wettest outlook. You can see the totals falling off rapidly from Eureka, to Ft. Bragg, to Sonoma County.
We could have the clouds hang around into Monday. Then an influx of colder air in the upper atmosphere will keep us on the cool side for most of next week, with highs in the 60s, to maybe a few 70s in the warmer spots. That’s about 5-10 degrees below average for late October.
By Thursday we’ll have a 2nd shot at rain, but the models are split on how far south the system will push. The GFS calls for some showers to reach us, but it’s the outlier. Most models show the system being shoved east and only reaching far Northern California.
After that, it looks like high pressure will shove the storm track even further north, at least for awhile, while our temperatures will return to average, or slightly above average. This may last through much of the week of the 4th.
More updates to come.
