Winter’s Wet Curtain Call

The long arm of winter is not quite ready to let California out of its grasp, and that means more rain is headed our way here in the North Bay.  In fact, the latest forecast models have our region facing at least two very winter-like storms between now and Thursday.   Additional rain may reach 3-4 inches in the wetter spots across Sonoma County by the end of the coming week.

Here’s the next storm, and the pool of cold air behind it headed our way on Sunday afternoon.

The latest models show the first storm stalling over the North Bay after arriving late Sunday night, before pushing south Monday afternoon. That will enhance our rainfall numbers compared to the rest of the Bay Area.

As you can see in the forecast, we may see 1-2 inches of rain in Sonoma County by Tuesday with far lower amounts in the Bay Area.

And there’s more after that.  On Tuesday night and Wednesday, another storm will arrive…with perhaps another 1-2 inches of rain for the North Bay.  Here’s the storm for Wednesday.

And the expected rain by the end of the week.  Generally 2-4 inches between Sunday night and Friday.

If you’re tired of the rain, here’s the good news.  The upcoming weekend looks dry and quite nice, with a high pressure ridge in place over the North Bay.

Further ahead?  Well, a few more storms may be possible during the first week of April, but this far out the models are mixed.  So stay tuned!
